SERIOUS Worm

Tadpole was a CRANKY baby. For the first six months of his life, all he did was cry.
Worm, on the other hand, is much less miserable - thank goodness - but he's OH-So-Serious! All.the.time.
This first image shows a bit of a smirk, which we get sometimes, but the second image is much more him.

iheartfaces - Week 35: Photojournalism

For the purposes of this weeks contest, iheartfaces defines photojournalism as "using a picture to tell a story". And for this week, if we prefer it to a single photo, we're allowed to enter a collage of up to 5 images. I opted for the collage.

I had originally intended to take some pictures of Mister and his boys... but when I got out my camera, Tadpole decided to do the same. I couldn't resist this series. I can still hear him telling me "Mummy, you look like Grover!" as he pulled the Sesame Street polaroid from the bottom of his camera.

Maternity Portrait Photograher, Victoria BC

I still can't quite believe that I've already got these ready to share... this is the quickest I've ever completed proofing a session!
But Cynthia is due really soon and since baby **** could arrive any day, I crossed my fingers that I could get their images to them first.

I shared a sneak-peek on the blog last week, and now that Cynthia & Matt have the rest of their images, I get to share a few more of my favorites...

(I usually prefer b&w images, but there's just something about the color of this one)

(The dogs - seriously, look how cute and well-behaved they are)

(Cynthia brought this book along... it was a gift from her Mom for their baby girl)

(As usual, saving my favorite for last. One of the best things about evening sessions is the potential for silhouettes)

Cynthia & Matt - it was so great meeting you and spending a few hours together. Congrats again and I'm SOOOOO looking forward to meeting your new little doll!!!

iheartfaces - Week 34: Beach Fun

Summer is almost over, and I'm sad to say that we still haven't spent any time at the beach. Luckily Tadpole has been able to get his beach on with other members of the family, so he's not feeling as sun & sand deprived as I am.

This weeks contest theme at iheartfaces is "Beach Fun" and since I don't have any recent images to post, I dug back to a family photo session that I did last winter. It was December, and one of the windiest days of the year - but we stuck it out anyways... and despite the chill factor, this happy family still had a great time. While it lasted. It was COLD and we packed up after about 15mins.

Head over to iheartfaces to see the rest of this weeks Beach Fun entries. Most of them are probably a lot warmer than mine :)

Tadpole vs Worm - Week 1

When Tadpole was born, a friend suggested that for the first year, we take a snapshot on the same day every week to chart the progress of his growth. We chose Wednesdays so that his last photo would fall on his 1st birthday.
Our Little Worm arrived just over 6 weeks ago, and we decided to do the same thing - this time opting for Thursdays.
I've got some catch-up posting to do, so today we'll start with a comparison of my boys at one week old...

Maternity Portrait Photograher, Victoria BC

It's been a very busy week in the Dey house, with a cranky toddler who's all about testing the boundries, and a fussy newborn who's still adjusting to life "on the outside". So I haven't had much time to process this shoot - but I wanted to tide them over until the rest of their images are ready for viewing...

...Earlier this week, I met up with Cynthia & Matt, to make some portrait magic. Cynthia hasn't had the most pleasant pregnancy, suffering from most of the crummy side-effects of pregnancy, but her and Matt couldn't be more excited to welcome their new baby girl in a few weeks and they wanted some photos to reflect this time in their lives.
They brought their first babies, their dogs, to take part in the session. I gotta say, these were two of the most well-behaved dogs I've ever seen! They even posed for me - too cute!

Enough words... on to the images :)
Cynthia & Matt, I hope you like your very short & sweet sneek-peek... plenty more to come. Hopefully soon!

Hoot Design Co.

I came across this website a few months ago when I saw it on a blog that I follow. The products include Wedding and correspondence stationary, but what caught my eye was the "Baby" collection. I was in immediately in love! There are options for customizing your print - and they couldn't be cuter!! I snagged a picture from the Hoot website to show an example of the "Simply Yours" Custom Hoot Print that I've got my eye on.

One of these would look perfect hanging in a nursery, don't you think?

Take a few minutes to check out the website and follow Kristen on Facebook or Twitter.

iheartfaces - Week 33: Got to Wear Shades

We had a bit of a break from the warm weather, but over the past few days, Summer is back in full swing! I had every intention of taking some new pictures of the boys for this weeks iheartfaces photo contest... but it was just too hot and I lost motivation.
Instead, the first one that came to mind, was this one from LG's grad portraits last year. I love that it captures genuine smiles - garnered by my brother who was my faithful assistant for the shoot. We had LG and his girlfriend swap sunglasses, which was kinda cute... but then my bro went and made a comment about LG looking like Elton John. He cracked up just as I snapped down on the shutter. Voila!

Flashback Friday - Summer

I can't believe this was only a year ago... it feels like it was forEVER ago!
Tadpole seems to have grown up so much in the past 12 months. He was my baby... and now he's a Big Brother. Crazy.

This snapshot was taken while he snacked on a Ritz cracker shortly after one of his many fights with the garden hose last Summer.

Twitter

For all of you technologically advanced folks, I figured I'd write a post to say that I've finally decided to sign-up for Twitter. I might not have anything super exciting to say at this point, and I don't know how long I'll be able to keep it up, but for the immediate future, I'm @adeyinthelife

And because posts are better with pictures, here's a quick iPhone snapshot:

Just like his Big Brother

Our Worm doesn't cry NEARLY as much as his Big Brother did. And when he does cry, he's MUCH easier to calm down... but when the crying starts - oh man... he sure does look like Tadpole used to! Lip quiver and all...

Chasing Bubbles

The last time we played in the yard, Tadpole begged for bubbles. We seem to have more bubbles than we know what to do with - and he LOVES them - so I obliged. "Mummy... you blow the bubbles, okay? I'm unna RUN!"

And run he did! He was having so much fun that when Mister got home from work, I asked him to take over the bubble blowing so I could go get my camera.

iheartfaces - Week 32: Surprise!

I've really been slacking off in my iheartfaces entries... I'm going to try harder to get my behind in gear and start entering weekly again.

This weeks contest theme is "Surprise!"... and a quick image I snapped with my iPhone last week fits the bill perfectly. I'm not sure what Tadpole is so shocked at - but something I said (or did) sure made him go "oh!"

Pieces of the Worm

During Tadpole's nap time a little while ago, I took advantage of some quiet and quality time with the Worm. I'd already done a few portraits of him, but I really wanted to get some shots of all of the little baby pieces that we're so quick to forget as the kiddos grow like weeds.

Playtime with Tadpole

My big boy is away for a few days, on a camping trip with his Grandma and Grandpa. So far he's only been gone for one day, and as much as I appreciate the break and the alone time with my Little Worm, I sure do miss my Tadpole.

A few days before he left, I took him out in the yard for some playtime and, of course, pictures. Here are 4 of my favorites...
