Tooth Brushing

What else is there to say?

I took a few pictures of Tadpole when he was learning to brush his teeth. I thought they were cute so I decided to share them.

iheartfaces - Week 12

Over at iHeartFaces, the theme for this weeks contest is "Pouting". Tadpole has done his fair share of pouting - but surprisingly, I don't seem to have caught it on camera very often.

I'm so glad to have caught this one though! It's one of my favorites. It may not be the most technically sound photo, but the pout is perfect. I took it with our point n' shoot on Tadpole's 1st Birthday. It makes me smile every time I look at it.

Click on iheartfaces and check out this weeks other entries.

Tongue

You know you’ve married a Man’s-Man and given birth to a Boy’s Boy when you wake up one Sunday morning and your husband is so excited to show you what he taught your son.

Valentine's Day at the Park

I'm still feeling under the weather, and there's nothing going on at home, so I'm going to do some more catch-up posting. On to Valentine's Day...

What better way to spend Cupid’s Day than with the two loves of my life? It was a sunny Saturday, so we bundled up the Tadpole and headed to his favourite place, the park. I had a great time watching Mister play with our boy, and I was able to snap some pretty decent pictures too.

* A quick side-note… some readers have commented on the photo that’s used as my blog header. While it was my idea to have a photo taken of Mummy and Tadpole’s feet, Mister gets full credit for the shot. He took it when we first arrived at the park, and it turned out perfectly! Couldn’t have done it better myself. Nice work Mister!

Flash Back Friday #2

Feb 2008: You can tell he’s watching intently… but you can’t tell WHAT he’s watching. Would it surprise you to know that it’s a hockey game?

After the regular season ended in 2008, we had to sign-up for the NHL Network. Hockey is one of the only things that calmed the colicky Tadpole. Bizarre. But maybe that’s why he loves it so much now. Even at the ripe age of 14mo’s, he can say “hockey” – and he knows exactly what it means. He watches it on TV. He loves to watch it live. And he has two little mini-sticks that he goes back and forth between. He’s almost always carrying one around with him, or shooting/passing his ball. There are a few theories as to why exactly he loves it so much.

1) Genetics
2) In-Utero Suggestion (I watched a lot of hockey when I was pregnant with “Slapshot”. Especially near the end because it was the World Jr.’s)
3) Intelligence – he’s already smart enough to know that there isn’t a better sport in the WORLD than hockey.

Father/Daughter Outing #2, Pt2

February

After leaving the Lagoon, Grumpy and I headed for Goldstream Park. It was a little chilly, but otherwise a clear day. I got my first lessons in macro-photography and while I’m sad that one is blurry, I’m still totally in love with these pictures, and pretty darn proud of myself for picking up what Grumpy was layin down.

Father/Daughter Outing #2

February

It was time for session two. This time, we went to Grumpy’s favourite spot… the Esquimalt Lagoon. We snuck up on the ducks, watched the swans, I tried for a few artsy-fartsy shots to frame and give my Mister for Valentine’s day.

None of my swan shots turned out, but I couldn’t have cared less because I’m in love with the duckies...

And I got three hearts for Mister...

Baba is ONE!

Tadpole’s first little friend has joined him as a member of the 1-Year club!

A few weeks ago we attended Baba’s first birthday party. He was adorable, strutting his stuff all over the house. It was all about him – and he KNEW it! When cake-time came, he made the greatest mess! Ahhh… to be one again...

While the “big people” were standing around watching the cake show, Tadpole took advantage of the brief lack of supervision and decided to take Baba’s car for a spin.

Peeking

When I got the Tadpole’s “peeking” pictures off my camera and onto the computer, I realised that I was going to have a really hard time choosing which one to enter in the “no flash” contest at iHeartFaces this week.
After ultimately deciding on this one for the contest, I wanted to share the others too. I love the face he's making in this one, but I'm torn between the color and the b&w.

This last one is Mister’s favourite.

iheartfaces - Week 11

It's that time again... this week's photo contest theme is "no flash".

I took this picture of the Tadpole yesterday afternoon. He'd been playing outside in the yard, getting dirty, and while he was on his way in for lunch he stopped to play a quick round of peek-a-boo through the walkway posts.

Head on over to iHeartFaces to see all of the entries this week.

Photoshop Actions

I’m still such a rookie with both photography and post-processing. When it comes to Photoshop, I can crop and de-saturate, but that’s about the extent of it. When a friend told me about “actions” I knew I had to try them out. I downloaded some freebies from a few blogs that I follow. Two of my favourite sets are from Pioneer Woman.

This picture is edited using “colorized” from her PW Action Set 2… and I love it!

Hockey Game Smiles

When Unk took at a look at my blog’s Very First Post he said to me “the pic’s are great – but he’s not smiling in any of them”. I responded with “he was in Awe!”.
But as hard as it may be for me to admit, Unk was right. So, here are some hockey game Smiles to rectify the situation.

Flash Back Friday

Tadpole’s come down with a bit of a cold bug. Again! So since there’s nothing new going on, I thought today would be a good day to do some looking back...
I didn’t start blogging till Tadpole was over a year old, so I have plenty of old material to choose from. Everything up until mid-January of this year was taken with our little Point n’ Shoot. These two pictures were taken just over a year ago and I couldn’t decide which of them I liked better - so I’m posting them both.

A Day at the Park

The Park is one of Tadpole’s favourite places. I love listening to his cute giggle while he plays on the swings and the slide. On my flex day a while back, we met some friends for a playdate at Colwood Creek Park.

Meet Little Bean and his big-sister, Princess.

... And of course, the Tadpole.

Tadpole's 1st Birthday

When I mentioned his Little Hooligans T-shirt in yesterday’s post, I realised that I still hadn’t blogged about Tadpole’s 1st birthday. It was 10 weeks ago - I’m lagging quite a bit behind.

Christmas had just passed, I’d just returned to work… we decided to skip any grand ideas about a big birthday party - we just wanted some quiet family-time instead.
To commemorate the big event, Mister, Unk and I spent an afternoon at PlayZone with the Tadpole.

We didn’t have a big family dinner either – just cupcakes...

...And presents. Of course. Who could forget the presents? Tadpole got spoiled rotten with a pedal car, a hockey helmet, some Tonka Trucks, a Detroit Redwings Jersey, and a Radio Flyer wagon - just to name a few.

One of the biggest highlights though, was that Auntie Tulip made a surprise appearance! We hadn’t seen her since Tadpole’s baby shower almost a year earlier. It was so good to have her here, even it was only for a few hours. XOXO to Auntie Tulip!

Erin go Bragh!

...and Happy St.Patrick's Day!

After dinner I took Tadpole to another hockey game. He loves it more than I would've ever imagined! No one can say we forced our favorite sport on this kiddo - he seems to enjoy it even more than we do :)
Tonight he was decked out in his 'Who's Your Paddy?' T-shirt, with his shamrock socks, and his little Stan Smith runners. The Tadpole has so many festive T-shirts for St.Patrick's Day that he's worn one a day since Sunday :) Yesterday he was 'Mom's Lucky Charm', and on Sunday he was a 'Little Hooligan'. All very appropriate! Here are a few pic's from yesterday and tonight.

And for those of you who're out enjoying a green beer: Slainte!
