Flashback Friday

IIHF World Jr. Hockey

It’s already been established that we’re a hockey family.  And that at the ripe age of 18 months, Tadpole has developed his own passion for the game and only stops asking to play when he’s asleep.

These are a few pictures of him from Dec/Jan… all dressed up and ready to cheer on our Canadian boys in the World Jr.’s.  My favourite shot is the one of him and PK Subban (on the TV).  PK was my favourite player of the tournament this past year.

Shoes

From the very start, Tadpole has been pretty stylin’. We’ve always put him in clothes that make him look like the little boy he is. From head to toe, he’s the best dressed Tadpole on the block! His first shoes were a pair of red Chuck’s that Lo gave me when Tadpole was still Slapshot. Adorable! And when we got home from Mexico in ‘08, sitting on our coffee table waiting for us, were the cutest little pair of Stan’s from Grumpy & Granny. He’s had another few pairs of Chuck’s and another pair of Stan’s. When we’re out, people always comment on his cute shoes. I couldn’t agree more, so here’s a snap of his little Stan’s… right before he outgrew his last pair. Hopefully it won’t be long before we can find some bigger ones to fit!

Popsicle

Good GREIF.  It's HOT.  Our house doesn't have very good air circulation, so we've spent the last few days sweltering in the summer heat.  Add that to the fact that we've been battling the flu, and you can imagine the misery of our poor Tadpole.  We've tried a few things to cool him down - but he's still not quite old enough to understand the "treat" value of things like popsicles and ice cream.  This is the first time we tried to give him a popsicle.  Even after we showed him how to eat it, he just held onto it for a little while - and then handed it back.

i♥faces - Week 29

At the Beach is the contest theme over at ifaces this week.
My entry is from Tadpole's first trip to the Esquimalt lagoon. He loved playing in the water and the sand... especially when he realized that putting the two together made MUD.

Head over to ifaces to see the rest of this weeks entries.

Flashback Friday

Sandbox

While we were visiting Ma’am and Papa (when they still lived in Osoyoos) last summer, Tadpole got to play in a sandbox for the first time.  Shortly after we got home, Grumpy & Granny bought him his own.  The b&w shot is in the sandbox at Ma'am and Papa's, and the sepia one is from the first day Tadpole got to get dirty in his very own sandbox.

Auntie Tulip

We were so happy to get to have Auntie Tulip come for a visit this summer! All the way from Cow Town! On her first day here, Mister and I both booked off work. After Tadpole’s first nap we all went out for brunch, and then we went to Beacon Hill Park. As usual, I had my camera in tow so that I could get some updated shots of my Tadpole and his Auntie Tulip.

Mr. & Mrs. Loster

On July 11th, Mister and I attended the wedding of some friends of ours. It was one of the sweetest weddings we've ever been too... The bride & groom have known each other since Elementary School - and they were CLEARLY meant to be together - even if it took them years to figure it out.

They had 2 photographers there, but that didn't stop me from taking my camera along too. I didn't want to interfere too much, so I just did my best to snap away from my seat.

Congratulations!! I hope you're having a great honeymoon in Hawaii!

i♥faces - week 28

It's FEET week at ifaces! Hooray! I'm excited to get to show off my blog header (which is my favorite picture of feet... except that I didn't take it. I set it all up, but Mister gets credit for the actual capture since) and my contest entry below. It's my Tadpole and his Mummy... on the slide at the park, in our matching Cons. Tadpole's had a few pairs of All-Stars, and they've all been different, so I'm happy to have this shot of our matching shoes.

Head over to the ifaces website and check out the rest of the entries in Feet Week.

Flashback Friday

Not only does time fly when I think about our Tadpole, but also when I look at our friends' kiddos.  Omigoodness... this feels like just yesterday - but Princess turned 4 earlier this month, and Charming will turn 4 next weekend!  Here they are on their first camping trip... it was the Easter Long weekend in April of '06 - and it snowed.  Ah, memories :)

Uggs

I don't know what it is about them, but Tadpole really likes Mummy's Uggs.  And I remember when Mr.O was about Tadpole's age... I've got pictures of him wandering around the same room in the very same boots.  However, Mr.O was dressed more appropriately - at least he was wearing pants.

iheartfaces - Week 27

There are 2 contest categories at iheartfaces this week.

Category #1:
I don't have any shots of Tadpole in action, but I do have this one of him observing sports in action.  I don't know if it counts or not, but I couldn't resist.  I love the look of complete awe on his face, just taking everything in at his first hockey game.

Category #2:
Ahhh... my favorite mutt-face... meet Maxwell.  One of my favorite things about Mister's doggie is that he sleeps with the tip of his tongue out. So cute.

Head over to iheartfaces to see the rest of this weeks entries in both categories.

Owie

He’s such a BOY.  Tadpole was having a great old time, emulating Napoleon Dynamite (dancing to some Canned Heat by Jamiroquai), when all of a sudden he stopped.  Stunned, he paused for a moment, and then the wail erupted.  In all of his flailing, he caught his eyebrow with the corner of his fingernail… and he sliced himself.  It wasn’t a deep or serious cut, but it bled just enough to scare the poor Tadpole.  Of course the first thing Mummy did was put him in the arms of his Daddy and run for the camera!

Langford Party

We took Tadpole to a housewarming party a few weekends ago.  It was so very Langford (dirty BBQ and all) – and the boy quickly figured out how to fit right in…  Toilet seat horse-shoes anyone!?

Constructive Feedback Friday

It's not just all about contests at iheartfaces. This week they offered constructive feedback to the first 40 people who entered a photo. Here's my submission.

This was my edited version. When I first started shooting, I didn't know to save the original - this lesson has since been well learned! In any case, the only editing done (other than adding a watermark) was auto color, levels & contrast adjustments in Photoshop7.

EXIF:
Aperture f/3.5
Exposure time 1/500s
Focal Length 14.0mm
ISO 200

"Gulf Island Cruise"

Mister had a course on the mainland, so we packed up and took the Tadpole on his very first ferry boat ride.
