Momma Mallard

In a staff mtg a few weeks ago, a co-worker friend mentioned “the duck”. She sat nestled away in the leaves – in a planter right behind the main entrance to our building. Incredible. I’d gone to check on her a almost every day, and it never failed that she was there, perched atop her egg(s). I took my camera down one day before her ducklings hatched, and I got a few quick pictures of the Momma Mallard. This is one of the better ones

Me & Mister

Not really a whole lot to say here... just me and Mister... makin faces at the camera. I wish I could remember why, but no such luck. Mummyhood has wreaked havoc on my memory.

Flash Back Friday #11

Funny Face

This was taken in July of 2008. I don’t know what it is about this picture that I love so much. I can’t put my finger on it, but it makes me smile every time I see it.

Grad 2009

I'm pretty sure I'm still in denial. LG CAN'T be graduating from highschool this year! He just can't! Because that would make me... old. Ugh.

Not sure there's much more I can say on the subject right now. Because, like I said, I'm in denital. Instead, I'll leave you with a teeny-tiny sneak peek from LG's Grad Portrait session.

The man of the hour: LG...

A quick details shot of the corsage...

LG & Lo (lookin' like Rockstars)...

There are PLENTY more to come...

Bling!

A co-worker friend got engaged over the weekend and I’m couldn’t be happier for her! They’re moving to Prince George in just a few days, so the timing was very sweet. And the ring, OH the RING! It’s beautiful. I was dying to take some pictures of it and I think I would’ve wrestled it off her finger if she hadn’t willingly handed it over. Feast your eyes on the bling!

Congrats again! And if you decide to get married in Victoria, don’t forget that I know a fantastic wedding planner!

PS – How cute are these props? I found the chair downtown at Paboom, and the shoe is from Seeing is Believing.

iheartfaces - Week 20

Silhouettes. I was nervous when I saw the iheartaces contest category this week... not sure if I would be able to pull it off or not. But with a few tips from Grumpy, and one willing subject (and one struggling Tadpole)... Voila! I even managed to get a little funky lens flare in there :)

Check out the iheartfaces website to see the rest of this weeks silhouettes.

Playing in the Yard

Because of the long weekend in the US, iheartfaces won't be opening their contest until TOMORROW morning. Kinda screws up my posting routine, but a little variety never hurt anyone :)

Scrambling for a last-minute post, I immediately thought of these two pictures. I took them a few weekends ago, while Tadpole was playing in the yard. He just loves being outside. You'll notice the mouth wide open in both pictures - I'm pretty sure the only time he ever stops talking is when he's asleep!

Mummy loves Tadpole!

On Mother's Day a few weeks ago, I asked Mister to take some pictures of the Tadpole and me. I set-up the camera for him, and he snapped away like mad. These are two of my favorites. I'm stoked to finally have a few current pic's with my boy :)

So long “Amateur” status

Well, it’s official… I am no longer an “amateur”. Thanks again to my wonderful friends, and especially to my ridiculously supportive family! XOs!
And because they’re the reason for my new semi-pro status, here are a few more shots from my first family portrait session with PallyBoy and his gang…

Flash Back Friday #10

Carrots

Tadpole takes after Mister and I in different ways. When it comes to carrots, apparently he’s his Daddy’s boy. Mummy HATES carrots (hence the bib – which I bought for Sunshine years ago) but Tadpole seems to think they’re A-okay.

The Baggage Handler

The first stop on our wine tasting tour in Naramata, was at Red Rooster winery. As we made our way from the parking lot, around to the entrance, we spotted the sculpture. I immediately recognized “Frank” from all of the publicity that surrounded him a few years ago (read more about it here), and he was just begging for me to take his picture.

M&M, and Squash

I'm still way behind on my editing, but I've finished a few from our weekend in Penticton. I know that some of you have been waiting to see pictures of M&M and little Squash, so here they are! :)

And a few from our wine tasting day in Naramata...

(... look for some more random Penticton shots in tomorrow's Wordless Wednesday post.)

iheartfaces - Week 19

It's Monday again. That means it's time for iheartfaces! This week is a special contest week! We're supposed to submit our best photo for a chance to have it be added to the brand-new I Faces Blurb photo book!

As usual, I wasn't sure which photo to choose, so I left it up to Mister. This is one of his very favorites of Tadpole, so it didn't take long for him to decide on entering it. I took it in our hotel room in Mexico last year. Tadpole was just starting to learn how to roll over - and we crack up whenever we see the look on his face.

I am submitting this photo into the www.iheartfaces.com Blurb Book photo contest. I am granting I Faces permission to use my photo in a printed version of a book for commercial use and possibly advertising of a photo book on both the Blurb and I Faces web sites.

V

We're home! We had a great weekend in Penticton with M&M, but we're happy to be back at home. I still don't have any pictures ready for posting, but that's okay, because I knew exactly what tonight's post would be about... Tadpole's forehead V. Mister and I were trying to explain it to M&M over the weekend, and I don't think we did it justice at all.
I quickly went through some old pictures and came across these two from Mexico last year. It's not in all it's glory, but if you look you can still see the forehead V. It used to be visible all the time, but these days we only get brief glimpses of it - like when Tadpole is angry, or being a "muscle man" :)

Penticton

I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to post today or not, but here I am. Mister and I are in Penticton for the weekend, visiting M&M, and getting to see Squash for the first time. Today we went to the Farmer's Market, on a few wine tastings in Naramata, to the beach to play bocce, and now we're going to relax, have a really late supper, and watch a movie.
I've been taking a few pictures, but I haven't got any ready for posting, so you'll just have to wait a few days :)

Flash Back Friday #9

This time we’re heading to May of last year. We had just arrived home from Mexico to SPRING. It was such a nice change to the snow that fell the weekend before we left.

Anyhoo… Tadpole couldn’t quite sit-up by himself yet, so we took his Bumbo into the front yard for some playtime. Mister picked a tulip from the garden for him to play with, but he wasn’t exactly sure what to do with it. Play? Eat? It’s all the same when you’re 4.5 mo’s old, isn’t it?

my Mister & our Tadpole

I remind myself every day, just how lucky I am to be living out this life of mine... I can't imagine being any happier than I am when I'm with my Mister and our Tadpole.

When I was working on catching Tadpole's laugh over the weekend, I got a few good snaps of the Daddy and his boy. Oh how I love them!

Family/Sibling Portrait Photographer – Victoria, BC

My cousins, Lo & LG, wanted to surprise their Mom, my Aunty, with some portraits for Mother’s Day this year. For ages, Aunty has wanted portraits of her kids and for one reason or another, they just never get around to scheduling anything. Ordinarily they’d call my Daddy, but because I’ve recently started following in his footsteps, they called on me. And I’m so happy that they did! We had a great day together, and got some pictures that I’m sure made my Aunty cry. I’ve been dying to post their sneak-peek, but because Aunty reads the blog, we had to wait till after Mother’s Day. Thanks for a fun shoot Lo & LG… and Aunty I hope you love the present from your thoughtful (when it counts) children! xoxo

iheartfaces - Week 18

It's that time again... time for another contest at iHeartFaces.

For week 18, the theme is "Laughter". I was pretty excited for this week because one of my favorite photos from my Mother's Day surprise session with Lo & LG, fit in perfectly in the adult category.
Then to get my photo for the kids category, all I had to do was follow Mister and the Tadpole outside into the front yard on a sunny afternoon.

Happy Mother's Day

I want to wish a Very Happy Mother’s Day to my Mom (Ma'am). And to my Step-Mom (Granny). And to my Mother-in-law (Grandma). I love you guys!
I can’t forget my Aunty and my Gramma (Great-Gran), kuz they’re Mom’s and I love them too!
And to all of my friends who are (or will soon become) Mom/Mama/Mommy/Mummy/Mum’s … Happy Mother’s Day!
Because they’re probably the most traditional of all gifts, here are some flowers for all of you to enjoy…

Now it’s my turn! Happy Mother’s Day to ME! I’m the luckiest Mummy in the world to have such a fantastic little family. I walked into the kitchen a few days ago to find that Mister had spelled this out on the fridge. Happy bubble :)

This post wouldn’t be complete without a picture of Tadpole and me. Except that the downside to being the one with the camera is that I’m always behind it and there are very rarely any pictures of me with my boy. I went back to last year, my very first Mother’s Day, for this picture.
