Canadian pride

Well, if 2nd place is the first loser, then I guess the gold medal count is all that matters... and if the gold medal count is all that matters - Canada WON the 2010 Olympic Winter Games!!!

Tadpole could not have been happier... here he is, showing off his National Pride at just over 2yrs old - singing our National Anthem...

Flashback Friday - Tadpole & Baba

A quick snapshot of Baba & his Mama, and Tadpole (who's clearly filling his diaper in this photo) & his Mummy. Can you believe Baba will be TWO on Saturday? And he's already a big brother!! Such a happy little growing family :)

Project 2010 - Bench at Silver Star

A few weeks ago, I spotted this pretty cool bench while out for a walk up at Silver Star... couldn't resist taking a photo of it for my 2010 project.

Project 2010 - Drip

I'm not exactly sure why it's taken me so long to post this image... it's one of my favorites and it was taken a while back, when Jen and I did our photo-walk thru the grounds at work.

The rain had just let up, but the drain spout was still dripping into this one little puddle...

iheartfaces - Week 8: Hands-On Fun

"Hands-On Fun" is the theme this week - and faces aren't even a requirement. The image I chose to enter might not be the most technically great, but I still love it. Tadpole is obsessed with the "Bolympic Winter Games" that are currently taking place in our beautiful province. Because of this, he's traded his CCM Hockey gloves (half-time), for his red Vancouver 2010 Olympic Canada mittens.

Flashback Friday

While he sure has grown up and changed a whole lot - the one thing that's remained the same is that grin....

Sundial

A few weeks ago, I spent my lunch break in Beacon Hill Park with my camera. There are so many things to photograph there, but one of my favorites is the sundial.
These are the two images I captured that day (edited using PW Actions: Vintage, and Heartland respectively).

Portraits at the Park

I've been off work for almost a week now... doctor's orders. It's been great to get to sleep-in, nap, relax... but most of all, to spend some more time with Tadpole. Doc also told me I needed to walk, outdoors, for 30mins every day.
Today, after our nap and lunch, I took Tadpole to walk and play at one of our favorite places, Colwood Creek Park.
He's getting so big and strong, climbing on his own, sliding and squealing with delight. Before we headed home to make dinner, he let me take a few portraits of him... oh how he makes me smile. Tadpole just has to give me that coy little grin and he makes everything alright :)

iheartfaces - Week 7: I Wanna Dance!

There has been an awful lot of dancing and singing to Oh Canada at our house recently - but no contest worth images... actually, no images at all!
Instead, for this weeks iheartfaces contest, I'm going back to the summer of 2009... we took the Tadpole to the Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre and while he wasn't sure at first, he was dancing and spinning around the aquarium in no time at all. Even though it's just in silhouette... I love the motion captured in this image.

Flashback Friday - Hanging out with Bubba

I had a day off work on Monday, so I took the Tadpole on a play-date to Duck and Bubba's house. As I was trying to decide which Flashback image to post today, I ran across this one of Tadpole and Bubba on their first ever camping trip and couldn't resist sharing it.

Studying

I'll never know how I got lucky enough to score the little Tadpole that I did... he cheers me up whenever I'm feeling down. How he got as smart as he did, as quick as he did, I'll never know either - but we're nurturing it as best we can!
One of his favorite things to do is study his "teams" (the logos of each NHL team from an advent calendar we got before Xmas). He'll sit contently for ages just looking at and listing off his teams.

Reflections

As dreary as rainy winter Vancouver Island weather can be, it also makes for some pretty interesting photo opps. I spent a lunch break wandering in Beacon Hill Park last week, and these are some of the images I captured in the puddles I found...

iheartfaces - Week 6: We heart Kisses

Just in time for Valentine's day... the contest theme at iheartfaces this week is "We heart Kisses"... hooray! Because really, who doesn't heart kisses!?

Here's an image from my very first maternity session... I still can't get over how happy this Mommy looks - especially considering she was 9mo's pregnant AND in labour at the time!

Head over to iheartfaces to see the rest of this week's kissy-face entries.

We miss you already

My best friend's Daddy (my "Dad #2") left us this weekend... I'm at a loss for words except to say that we love you and miss you already.

Here are a few pictures from my wedding - this is the way that I'll happily remember him... except that this shirt has buttons instead of snaps, and those are dress pants instead of jeans :)

Big hugs to Auntie Tulip and her sister, and my Mom #2. LOVE YOU!

Flashback Friday - Mexico 2008

Happy Birthday Papa!

Papa's away for work right now, so Tadpole can't sing the Happy Birthday song for him. This flash back will just have to do instead. I love the way they're grinning at each other... not sure which of them thinks the other is more funny (looking :P )

Tadpole loves the NHL

People might say that we force hockey on our little Tadpole - but those people couldn't be more wrong.  I've never seen a kiddo, and a 2yr old kiddo at that, who loves hockey as much as our boy does.  Here he is, showing off that he knows all of his NHL teams by logo.

Introducing "Noodle"

When I was pregnant with "Slapshot", Mister took a photo of me on the 1st of every month, so we could track my belly's progress... and we're doing the same this time with our little "Noodle".
Since today is the 1st of the month, I thought it was as good a time as any to formally introduce our future youngest child. Here's the snapshot Mister took before dinner tonight.

And we had our ultrasound last Friday morning, so here are a few of the pictures we got from the tech.  (And FYI - we've decided that we DO NOT want to know Noodle's gender, so we asked the tech not to tell us, even if he could discern whether Tadpole was going to have a little brother or a little sister).
