Great Gran's Backyard

A few weeks ago, we went over to visit Great Gran.  She's recently had a bunch of bushes/trees removed from her backyard, so there's a TON of room for Tadpole to run free.  Here are just a quick few of him, doing what he does best:  playing!

Happy Belated Birthday Great-Gran!  We're glad you had good day yesterday! XOXO

iheartfaces - Week 38

BLUE is the contest category at ifaces this week... all entries must have a face clearly visible and must prominently feature the color blue... I think this image of the Tadpole does the trick nicely!  It was taken at the park a few weeks ago and I posted it in the ifaces Week 34: Before & After challenge - but it wasn't a contest week so I'm still allowed to enter it today.

Check out the rest of the blue entries at ifaces this week.

Flashback Friday

Eyelashes

Everyone who sees him, comments on Tadpole’s gorgeous eye lashes.  Grumpy knew he just HAD to capture them when Tadpole was still teenie… and I think he did a bang-up job!

Fall Landscape Bokeh Assignment

Most bloggers out there know about Pioneer Woman.  I found out about her blog from a friend of mine, and have been following it ever since.  It's full of great tips, tools and contests.

Today she offered a bit of a challenge... Take a picture of something fall-y with fabulous bokeh. Fall and bokeh were made for each other.

As soon as I read this, I knew that just last week, I'd snapped a photo that was perfect for sharing.  I was walking through Beacon Hill Park after work one afternoon, and the tall brown grass just seemed to be calling my name.

Do you have a fall-y picture with fabulous bokeh that you'd like to share? Head to PW's photography blog and link it in the comments section so everyone else can check it out!

The BIG Slide

I probably should've used one of these photos for yesterday's iheartfaces contest, but I think they work so much better as a set. Instead, I decided to keep them all together and post them today.

When we were in Penticton for the long weekend, we took Tadpole to the coolest park ever!  I wish we had one like that around here!  It was raining, but he'd been a good boy that morning, and we wanted to let him have a little play time.

He was thoroughly enjoying himself, running around and splashing in the puddles... and then his eyes went as big as saucers when he noticed it...  He couldn't wait to clamor up the stairs and come soaring down the BIG red slide - and lucky for me, Mister took his post at the top, so I got to stand at the bottom with my camera...

You'll note that Tadpole's sporting an ear-to-ear grin as he's about to faceplant into the gravel.  He rolled over, jumped up, said 'Ah-GEN' (again)!  and made his way back to Mister at the top of the slide for round two.

iheartfaces - Week 37

"Completely Candid" is the photo contest challenge at ifaces this week.  In other words, they have to be spur-of-the-moment, non-posed captures in order to be eligible.

No problem! :)  As Mister said to me last night, all of the pictures of the Tadpole are candid... it's impossible to get that kid to pose!

Here's the one I chose... we were at Jack's Place for dinner, and it was nice enough to be seated outside - which is a great distraction for a toddler who gets quickly/easily bored, just sitting at a table waiting for food.  We played in the sand volleyball court for awhile, but then he spotted the bear...

Head over to ifaces to see the rest of this weeks entries!

Flashback Friday

PEE

Mister and I warned him.  But Unk didn’t listen.  And it served him right.  He had just taken Tadpole out of his tub.  We said “you should probably put a diaper on him” but Unk was having too much fun playing with Tadpole and getting big grins from him… then, just as Mister and I predicted, Unk got pee’d on.  Nice.

More Squash

Because I know her Mommy & Daddy want to see them, and because I miss them SO MUCH, I had to post just a few more of baby Squash.

Here she is, passed right out... it's a rough life...
... but this is how she usually sleeps... keeping an eye on Mommy & Daddy and the rest of the world - making sure no one's getting into any trouble or having too much fun without her...
... and WIDE awake... look at those big eyes!
... she's clearly not to sure about this camera thing...
... and OUT LIKE A LIGHT again!

Baby Squash

We packed up Betty and headed to Penticton for the Labour Day long weekend... it was a chance to see M&M again, and to meet their new baby girl and attend her baby shower.  Little Squash arrived quite a bit earlier than expected, so she was over a month on her big day.  I took a bunch of pictures, and these are just the first few.  You can expect to see more over the next few days.

iheartfaces - Week 36

Contemplative

The ifaces definition of contemplative is: thoughtful observation; full or deep consideration; dreamily or wistfully thoughtful: a pensive mood; expressing or revealing thoughtfulness; quiet modes of apparent or real thought; can be marked by some sadness, but doesn't have to be.

Here's what I chose to enter in this weeks competition... Tadpole likes to look through the fence.  Usually it's to play peekaboo and grin and giggle, but not this time...

There's also a special non-judged pet category this week.  It's just for fun, and you can enter any photo of an animal, it doesn't have to be one that's considered a pet.  This is a photo I took on our second father/daughter outing:

Be sure to click over to ifaces and see the rest of this weeks contemplative and pets entries.

Flashback Friday

I can't get over how chubby he used to be!!  I caught this shot of the Tadpole in his dorky sun hat just a few days after we returned from Puerto Vallarta last May.  When I look at him every day, I forget... but when I look back at pictures like this it's hard to believe just how much he's changed!
He's growing up so fast - but he'll always be Mummy's little Tadpole :)

Swing

On Lo's birthday in 2008, just one day before Tadpole was born, she gave Slapshot a present... it was a Little Tikes swing for the yard.  We got some use out of it the first summer, but this year Tadpole used it ALL the time - he loves it!  Just like his Mummy... I still go play on the swings when we go to the park together.

Helmet Head

Nope.  We’re not your typical girls.  No pole dancing lessons or pub crawl on this stagette… instead we did a scavenger hunt, and raced go-carts.  I’ve already posted the wedding pic’s, but somehow I forgot to post this one… now we’re coming back to it because it’s too good to be missed.  Thanks to the bride’s little sis for snapping this shot of the bride-to-be, one of her bridesmaids, and lil’ ol’ me.

iheartfaces - Week 35

"Back to School"

The most wonderful time of the year is still a few years away at our house... but that didn't stop me from taking a photo to enter in this weeks ifaces contest!  Here's our little man... looking so sad because he's got his backpack on and he's ready to go to school - but he's not even 2yrs old yet.

Head on over to ifaces to see the rest of this weeks entries (and hopefully some happier faces than this one)!

Flashback Friday

We're just getting ready to head out the door to Penticton to visit M&M and meet their new baby girl!   So, I decided to flash back to a picture from their going away party about a year ago... we miss them SO MUCH and I can't wait to see them later tonight!

The Bike

Oh, he’s just so spoiled!  Grandma has said from the beginning that spoiling the Tadpole is her job – and let me tell you, she’s doing a mighty-fine job of it!

A few weekends ago we headed over to Grandma & Grandpa’s for Sunday dinner.  As soon as we arrived, Grandma took Tadpole into the computer room to show him what they’d bought for him.

It was a bike!  His first set of wheels!

Almost immediately, we took it outside for a spin.  (The 3rd picture from the top is one of my favorites because every time I look at it I can still hear him saying "Oh BOY!")

It was all fun and games and smiles until we made him put on his helmet. Poor Tadpole was less than impressed.  He's used to it now and doesn't look so sad when he wears it, but I think we might need to get him a cool-dude helmet (that he can wear on his future skateboard and bmx bike) one of these days.

Tadpole says thanks for the bike Grandma, and Grandpa!  Love you!

The Boys (in Black & White)

This is part 2 of last Thursday's post... Tadpole with his friends Z-man and J-Bear...
